The roof we manufacture for the T25 is based on the later Westfalia Roof that was fitted to 1985 VW campervans onwards, but will fit on all T25s from 1980. It is a three-quarter length, front lifting, rear hinged roof that runs from the back gutter to the front doors. Over the cab area is a separate fibre glass luggage rack.
Our roof has the same look, feel and dimensions of the original. We fit a 46 inch x 6 foot bed into the roof. The bed can be folded away when the roof is elevated. Once the roof is fitted the height of your van will be approximately 2 metres (although vans themselves do vary in height). Our roof is easier to raise and lower than the original Westfalia as we use external gas struts and hinges.
The hole we cut in the steel roof of your van is approximately four feet by four feet and runs between the front and middle cross members. As no cross members are removed, the roof does not need any additional strengthening. We supply a plywood framework that is fitted around the cut hole. This enables the area to be trimmed.
The hinges are designed to lift the front of the roof by 43 inches and the back of the roof by 10 inches. These and the gas struts are fixed outside of the canopy to prevent any possible leak problems.
The fibre glass top comes as standard in VW Pastel White L90D. We can supply the roof colour coded from £60 (metallic colours cost more). Straight colours are added to the gel coat of the fibre glass. The canopy is a modern acrylic coated sail canvas that is available in a variety of colours (see the extras page to chose your colour). The material is impregnation coated, 100% polyester, abrasion, mildew and ultra-violet resistant and is produced with a clear seal coat to provide a high degree of water resistance. The choice of canopy colour is included in the price of your roof (see extras page to see the colours available).

Our standard headlining is a dark grey, velour type, foam backed fabric which lines the inside of the fibreglass roof, covers the framework and the bed boards. We can now offer the choice of a coloured foam backed vinyl headlining. This comes in a choice of 24 colours and the cost is £100 plus vat. This material is a marine grade vinyl that is easy to clean, antibacterial and mildew resistant. Contact us for swatches.
We now offer the option of 2 side windows, in addition to the front window, in the Westy style canopy. These will be supplied flyscreened, with velcro flaps for £30 plus vat extra per window.
The lead time for the roof it roughly 3 weeks. For fitting, we will require your van for a week, and customers usually bring their van down on a Friday or Saturday, and collect the following Friday or Saturday. For an extra £200 plus vat, we can now offer a one day fitting service. Your van would have to be with us no later than 09.00 am and would be ready to collect at 17.30 pm. This service can only be provided for tin top vans or where you have removed your existing roof. Please ring Pete to talk through this service.
